has anyone evem bought a hatchling and it grew up to be the wrong locale?

im wondering how common it is to buy say a biak, and have it change only to find out you have an aru?im sure its less common with reputable breeders but im assuming with farm raised imports, there are a lot of oportunities for things to get mislabled/mixed up.im only asking because every import i have bought and everyone i know has turned out exactly as promised.im surprised it doesnt happen more often.say it does happen,do you have a case for getting your snake exchanged?

This is a good reason why to only deal with breeders. They produced the animal and they can show you photos of the sire and dam. This way you will have a good idea what your chondro is going to look like.

I purchased a total of 3 snakes that turned out to definitely NOT be what they were advertised as. The first were advertised as a pair of "farmed sorongs". I received them, ran fecals, got rid of both the internal and external parasites they came with and grew them up into lovely biaks.

My third was sold to me a couple years ago as a wamena yearling. This one had already been established by the person I got it from and believe that he was misled also...... also, turned out to be a biak. This one has remained one of my favorite snakes even though she wasn't a wamena. She came to me clean as a whistle.

Now that I have become much more experienced and seen many many more babies I have learned how common it actually is to find locales misrepresented on imported babies. I haven't seen any babies that were captive bred and born (cbb) ever turning out to be other than what they were supposed to be. It really helps having pix of the parents to evaluate.

FWIW, I regularly see babies advertised as locales other than biak while indeed the babies are biak type. I've got 30 something chondros, most which I've grown up from babies and guess what... ALL the true cbb babies have grown up to be exactly what they were represented to be!

This pic is current of my 3 year old "wamena" ... lol, what do you think?

I think it's beautiful! No matter what, that's a nice animal.

Thanks Meg, this is one of my locale types that I'm going to display in Anaheim! You'll get to see how much cooler she is up close and personal!

Hey,
Well, what I think is that that is not a Wamena, but a Biak.

Hey,
That snake is not showing any of the colors of a Wamena, and is taking a heck of a long time to come to full blossom in terms of its adult coloration much like a Biak does, which can take up to 5 years to come into full adult color. Hint hint!
