TOO MUCH SUN??????????

Clydester Aug 27, 2005 01:57 PM

I want to leave my 3 month old beardie outside to let it get sunshine so it will be more healthier. Will it hurt her if she gets too hot? Can too much sunlight be harmful? The average temperature right now is about 90 degrees in Kentucky. Could I leave her outside all the time? Has anyone ever heard of a beardie frying from getting too hot or anything? Any help would be appreciated.

Too much heat can kill your dragon. If you want your dragon to spend time outside, make sure he has a shaded area where the temps stay around 80F. If it stays too hot even in the shade, then it's best to keep him indoors.

What part of KY are you from? I live in Louisville and periodically take my beardie out to run around in my backyard or let him bask on my arm or shoulder. Usually I only keep him out about an hour because I get overheated a lot faster than he does, plus after basking I hook him up with some superworms so my dragon really really likes going outside.Take care-Chris

I am from Anderson County, about 15 miles from Lexington and right next to Frankfort.
