Cage and bedding questions

Green_Ranger Aug 27, 2005 03:21 PM

I've had my garter for about 2 years and she's currently in a 20 gallon tall on Reptibark. Here are my questions. I was thinking about getting a large, clear rubbermaid container that is larger than what she's in now and putting her in it with a screen lid and changing her bedding to aspen. Would this be advisable? I was also thinking about putting a tiny bit of coconut shavings (or whatever that stuff is you put in water to expand it) in the corner for her to lay on if she feels a bit dry. This sound alright? She would still be getting the same lighting and such. Just want her to have a bit more room. Also, since I've never used aspen in her cage before, how often should I change it? Thanks for any help

go with care fresh its very good stuff and it comes in 2or 3 colors ,white ,gray.a water bowl will give it all the water it needs.

I think the 20 gallon with aspen would be a better idea. I've never seen any kind of screen lid that would fit over a rubbermaid container. So you may be giving the garter snake a chance to escape.
