Got New Green Anaconda .

496ss Aug 27, 2005 03:42 PM

Hi all, fellow conda lovers here. New to this board. Just picked up a baby Green anaconda, little fistey like my wife. Looking to purchase another one. I see lots of breeders on the Web. Any one know of a real good one. Also some tips to get it to feed. Anyone purchased theres from Ray Torres? He has fair prices. Anyway I am glad to meet all. Take care Joe.

Hey, I have purchased a baby green from RAy Torres just over a week ago. He shiped it to my house for $120 from meyers florida. check out his site at raysreptilia.com. he got some pics going there. The snake is great to my knowledge. I havent tried to feed it or handle it yet. As soon as it came out of the box, (he shiped DHL) it snaped at me, so I put it in my tank. I left it there for about 3 days so it could calm down. The baby conda from Ray seem pretty healthy to me. I got a male at 2 feet long. He is undergoing a shed now, so i am not planing on feeding him. Ray told me it east live mice, but I wanna try and feed it F/T mice. Anyhow, it sounds funny but i just dealt with the guy and had a good experience and am hoping the snake will grow into a somewhat tame, beautiful snake.

PS: by the way he claimed it a CBB not wild caught. It does seem captive to me.

Did you buy yours from Ray Torres? I didn't try to feed him yet, as he went into shed as soon as I got him. Once he goes through shedding, I will try to feed him a small rat(f/T). Although Ray feeds his anacondas live mice, I will give it a shot and see if I can change the snake to accept dead rats as they have more nutrients. I will let you know ho wit goes, but here is my feeding plan:

I will move the snake into a seperate dark box and throw in the dead rat. I will leave the snake is the box overnight and see if by morning it has fed. Best to leave them alone and I found through experience that boas feed better in the darkness.

If you are looking for the BEST green anaconda breeder, look no further than Mr. Kelly Haller. You can contact him through one of his posts here. I have the good fortune of having one of his genetically docile green anaconda males. The tamest by far of my 42 constrictors and the only one I take out of the cage free hand with no hook. Bill.
