bearded dragon eggs

maul99 Aug 27, 2005 03:53 PM

I have a clutch of eggs that a four weeks old. No eggs have dies and they are growing (she just laid another clutch and the eggs for the first time a bigger). But some of the eggs have started getting transparent in spots. I can see the embro and blood vessels so i know they are alive. They are being incubated at 85 degrees and in high humidity and the incubaton medium is perlite. This is my first clutch of eggs aand am not sure if the transparent areas on th eggs are normal. Any advice would be helpful. thanks

how old are the transparent eggs? They may be fine if they are were layed in the last couple of days. Most likely they are transparent-like is that your female was didn't have enough calcium in their diet to produce eggs with a sufficient amount of calcium. I've had this happen once when i didn't realize one of my females was gravid. Yet, the babies did hatch fine.

I personally like to use vermiculite over perlite, as vermiculite can be finer, and thus retain water for a longer period.

relax, don't worry, your breeding will be sucessful even if you hatch a single baby (if it's your first time and all...I remember mine!)
