OT but still relevant

I recently purchased a lovely juvenile Jungle Carpet Python from a local shop, whom I've purchased from before. That night, my little boy(named Chaioth), was out and about in the foliage of his terrarium and I noticed him yawning every ten minutes or so. He hadn't eaten since the last monday and I wasn't sure if he was just resetting his jaw or what, so I've been keeping close watch.
Lately, now that I've been handling and taming him down more often, I've noticed that he sometimes lets out a short breath every so often but not every time I hold him. Like a short hiss, very quiet. I haven't noticed any mucus or leakage from his mouth or nose, and no other sounds when he breathes...
Are these what I fear? Signs that I bought a sick puppy?
What can I do?

Caitlin,
....I used to breed Jungle Carpets and Irian Jayas and Diamond Jungle crosses. JCPs are very active and move around in the foliage a bunch. They do yawn often when moving around. Little ones will sometimes hiss and make striking motions without opening their mouths when they feel threatened. I would keep watching for drool or mucus from the mouth or nostrils. JCPs are not as shiny or wet looking as Rainbow Boas but when one is sick it will usually quit drinking and become dehydrated and look dry. Baby JCPs are also very strong springy little guys and if they look weak or lethargic it is usually a sign of a problem.
Good luck,
Jeff
