Baby Easterns Milk eating fish ~

Tektum Aug 27, 2005 08:29 PM

Interestingly, I found that my baby easterns have a fondness for fish (namely toughies, a typical petstore feeder fish.) I found this out accidently, while feeding some baby northern watersnakes. I had one of the milks latch onto my finger and was curious if it was because of the smell the fish had left behind...It was.
They have no reservations about eating them while shedding as well (as you can see in this photo.)
It has proven to me to be a good starter food, the snake in this picture, is eating its first meal. Thanks, Leo

Would minnows or baby creek chubs work???. Thanks Scott

Scott, that snake is eating a minnow. Tuffie is another name for a rosy red, and a rosy red is just a fancy name to represent the erythristic minnows.

I tryed to feed them minnows from our creek today and none of them ate any. I have them in about 2 inches of mulch is that why they are not eating?? should I put newspaper instead of mulch?. Thanks Scott

Newspaper will most likely work better than mulch.

The majority of neonate eastern milks will gladly take baby snakes.
