Hondurans hatching

gila7150 Aug 27, 2005 08:49 PM

A clutch from my 100% het tricolor female to my albino tricolor male is hatching tonight. The first two out of the egg have a lot of orange considering their parents have none. This pair usually throws babies with pale yellow to white bands but this year it looks like all but one of the hatchlings will have a good amount of orange.

The first pic shows some of last years babies from the same parents.

Beautiful pics Chris. That bottom pic of the albion is stunning. Very nice, and here's to good sucess for all of the hatchlings.

Thanks Steve,
The last het to hatch came out very aberrant. Unfortunately, this one is quite small and didn't absorb most of it's yolk sack. It doesn't have any kinks or deformities so hopefully he'll make it. His belly is pretty much patternless and the bands almost look like the bullseye annulata that are out there (except a few of them are joined together). I don't think the pattern is anything genetic...I think the guy just had some problems during incubation. He'll be kinda neat looking if he lives though.
I still find it strange that every hatchling is atleast somewhat tangerine when both parents were tricolors and all the babies last year were tricolors.
