What were your first morphs? How did your first clutch come out? Why did you get into it?

First morphs were Spider and Pastel. I got them at the same time. Nothing produced yet, as they are '05 animals, but I have had 10 females that I have been raising up for the last couple of years, and 60 that I got this year to raise up. So they will have no problems with females in the coming years.

I have a 1.0 het ghost and 1.0 het pied 1.0 blushing black back and 1.0 pastel poss het orange ghost. Haven't produced anything yet, this will be my first year breeding them. I have 7 females that are ready but only the het ghost and the black back are ready out of the males. My brother has a pastel though and 4 of my girls will be paired up with his pastel.

I bought a bell line pastel male last spring, but i had already hatched a clutch from a "burgundy" female.I will not know whether she is a "trait" or not until this next season(with any luck).
Does first morph include hets?...if so,then i should add that i also bought two possible het caramel males last year(hatched a clutch from each). So i won't know the real answer to your first question for at least 2 more years...

Why am i breeding them?...
After years of keeping everything,it was just time to start a breeding project of some sort...from day geckos to tree frogs to Variable kings ...to Balls...

The Royals won.

First morphs = albino and hets, and 2 pastels and het clowns = bought them all this winter they all arrived the same week as they were coming from back east and were waiting for good weather to ship. Boy that was a fun week.

First clutch was a breeze even tho they were all normals = a good practice clutch. 8 good eggs 8 beautiful babies.

Got into it mostly because my sons wanted to. I've been raising balls for twenty five years even work with the local shelters and rescues with rehabing and relocating the balls that come their way - I had put off breeding them because I didn't want to contribute to the neglect and abandonment that I saw happening - however my sons convinced me that it would be a fun family project and here we are - I figure if we stick to morphs they have less chance of being abused than a $25 normal. Tho I'm not kidding myself - just going with the odds.

My first clutch:
