What kind of snake is this??? Found in Las Vegas...

byplanehover Aug 28, 2005 08:53 AM

Although I found it in Las Vegas, I'm not sure if that means anything. I believe that it was in captivity, and was released nearby where I found it wandering aimlessly in the middle of the hot part of the afternoon. There were at least 6 captive snakes that were released in the area, and the others were collected by somebody else. The snake is not very active. It reminds me of a corn snake from the markings on top, but has darker patterns underneath. I will attach some images right away...

It is one of the morphs of the Variable Kingsnake. Definitely not a native.
