Too hard to tell from that pic. Might be male, judging by the jowl, but to be sure, look under at the vent area, and see if there are pores and bulges from the hemipenes.

Thanks iguana joe
I took some more pictures, sorry this one is way too light but you can still see some pores in it, please let me know what you think

here is the other more clear picture but he's all stretched out hahahaha he was not happy we were trying to take pictures of that area

To me, it looks male... but thats just me...

Looks male to me too. The pores are very prominent, but the hemipenes bulges are not, however, that may be due to its young age. Have u noticed any semen residue around the enclosure? Any male-related behavior typical of breeding season?

I think he is a male I just wanted to see what you guys thought. I haven't seen any seminal fluid or anything but he can be VERY aggressive sometimes. If he walks past a mirror in the house he flares up and puffs himself up all big and displays his dewlap. He also seems to do some sort of silly walk where he stands up and kind of walks sideways but in a funny sort of way, almost like he's stalking something. He does have two bumps on the top of his head behind his eyes, I read something about that being a fat deposit that males generally have. Thanks
about 3-4 years old and definitely female. I say that because the jowels are relatively small compared to a male iguana of the same age. The dorsal spikes are a little bit bigger than usual, but the deciding factor was the femoral pores. They are smaller than a male at that age. If it were about 1-2 years old and it's femoral pores were that size I would say male, but not in this case.
http://www.anapsid.org/iguana/sexingigs.html Be sure to read the part about the size of the femoral pores. Females have two or three large pores close to the leg and the rest will be small, or they could all be pretty small. Males are obviously bigger at about 2 years of age, and there is no way your iggy is younger than that. Also it explains that the dorsal crests may be larger on some females compared to others, depending on locale.
Ummm... im sorry to tell you but that is not for sure female. Its not male for sure either. My male, who is about 1.5-2 years old has smaller pores then that, yet has been through a season and leaves rather large "presents" for me. (not plugs... just straight semen)
so in conclusion... there is no way to gather definitive evidence whether or not it is a mle of female from those pictures. now if you could see the bulges, that would be a different story.
p.s. here is a picture of my male...

His jowels are bigger than the other from what I can see, but there was no need to correct me. In my OPINION that is def. female. You can't tell for sure from any picture, but in my opinion it is def. female. And do you have any pictures of your males femoral pores? I have yet to see a sexualy mature male with pores that size.

Actually the picture I posted.... he or she is only just now 2 yrs old. I asked the person I got him from and she wrote all of that down. He has a very large dewlap, and also has jowls that are quite large though they don't show in the picture. This iggy also sleeps on a pillow, he's spoiled hahahaha and I have noticed him rubbing certain body parts on the pillow. I have not seen any semen yet but I haven't really looked for it and the pillow case he sleeps on is white.
Like I said I may be wrong. But the chances of your previous owner knowing the hatch date of your little one are highly unlikely. Good luck with it. -Joe
I am fine with you stating your opinion, just dont jump on and say that it Definitely is a female. Thats just bad information. There is no forsure from that picture....
As for the pictures of Tiny's pores... ill try to get those on the forum withing a day or so os stay tuned...

You are right, I worded it wrong, I should have said in my opinion it is female rather than definite, definite is too...well...definite, so what I meant wasn't what I said. To the original post: You will know soon enough what sex the little one is. -Joe
It's a boy!!!!!!!! i'm so happy I finally found out what "Dakota" is, today I was watching him and he had to poop, well when he did I saw his hemipenes come out right after he had pooped and then it went back in. I definately saw it though!!! he's a definate male!!! i'm so excited because I was really hoping it was a male, just thought I would give you all the update.
