Mice or Rats?

I just got my new sumatran water monitor friday and he's big enough to eat small rats and i was wondering if i should feed him a rat or just give him 2 or three mice. i have heard some people say rats have more nutrients in them and i have also heard other people say that mice are better. I'll post a pic of the new water very soon. Thanks for your help.
