I am going to build a new cage soon and was wondering, I plan on drilling a ceramic light fixture right into the side of the cage, will the bulb (75 watt?) catch the melamine on fire or have any other ill effects? would a ceramic "heat emitting"bulb work better? Thanks for your time!

enough to catch the wood on fire. Also, how will you keep the animals from getting burned on your lamp? If there is any way in the world for them to make contact with a hot lamp, snakes will find a way.

well...would they wrap around the burning hott lamp or just touch it and leave it alone? also...I was looking for ideas to keep them away anyway... so suggestions would help

so just having a lamp in there is not a great idea, in my opinion. I would suggest heat panels instead.

I did this with my beardies a while back and they had a 100 watt bulb in one end and it didnt melt the plastic or anythig like that, and the temp on the roof was a constant 150 degrees or so.
