Watching this hurricane getting ready to shred New Orleans had me a little concerned about the zoo and it's inhabitants. The zoo is right on the lake and I'm sure it will sustain serious damage. I've visited there many times and it would be upsetting to see it destroyed. Is there some kind of contingency plan in place for these kinds of occurences? Are there perhaps buildings there that have a chance of withstanding the storm? I just don't see how this could be possible given the city's below sea level elevation and succeptibility to flooding. I've never experienced such a natural disaster and I am nervous for the town and it's citizens while I sit comfortably in my midwestern living room. It's horrible what is about to happen to one of our most historically valuable and beautiful cities.
