ps. do you have any good ideas for a display for us at tinley park? brian p said he can set us (ISHS) up with a table.

Thanks again

Hello Gavin,
no problem going this route. Yes, your internship packet is completed and I faxed it to your advisor but it didn't go through so I need to see if I have the right fax number. If that doesn't work, I will just snail mail it (I was going to call Dr. Niebhur today to let her know that everything is done). If you have her fax give it to me so I can check it with the one that I have.

As far as Tinley goes, and possible ideas, I think your anaconda display was pretty cool....great audience to educate them a bit considering that there will be a handful of 'condas for sale (most likely). Promote your herp society as well; that's a great place to do it considering that there will be a decent amount of people coming up from central IL. Just be sensitive in how you educate people about owning anacondas. For example, you don't necessarily just want to come out and overtly say "don't own an anaconda" because there will be breeders there who make a living out of selling snakes (even though my personal belief is that 99.9% of people wanting to own an anaconda shouldn't own one). Look forward to seeing you there.

Hi Rob:

Gavin(eunectes4)should be a good intern if he's true to form as I've experienced by reading his posts on this forum. I think he has a good head on his shoulders and seems to be responsable.

Best,

Al

Thanks Al. I actually already completed one internship with Rob and we are working out more details. Its great to go to school for the better part of the decade and work internships feeding gators.

And to Rob...We do a lot of educational displays in this area and I never go in the direction to where people should not own them. I would be a bit hypocritical. We just explain what it takes. I usually like to take more of a scientific route to the displays especially with the condas (since most people are completely unaware of two species) but a husbandry display would be a nice idea.

I was thinking...if we cant bring live animals in this late...an educational Naja display would be fun. Just direct to Rob Carmichaels tables for a look at a baby haje.

We will most likely have our banded egyptian cobra and coral cobra on display (along with 15 other venomous species); can't wait!

Al, thanks for the endorsement and as Gavin mentioned, he did complete one internship with me and did an outstanding job and we are trying to work out another one with him for his big college internship.
