New to the forum

boaman64 Aug 28, 2005 11:51 PM

Hi everyone. My name is Ken Casstevens, and I am new to this forum. Like most of you I've become the victim of an incurable Thayeri addiction. They're awesome snakes! I can't get over all the different colors, and combine that with small size, and a great attitude, and you've got the perfect snake. I'll have 4.6 adults going into next breeding season, and it can't get here soon enough. I've just bred corns, and Cal kings before, but within the last year I've started building a nice Thayeri colony, and that's what I plan on consentrating on. I can't get over all the cool pics on here, and if someone would be nice enough to tell me how I'd like to share some of my Thayeri pics as well. Thanks, and I look forward to talking with all of you.

Well, welcome aboard Ken... your incurable Thayeri addiction is a wonderful thing indeed! Great to have you here, and have fun! I can't see that I will ever loose interest and I don't expect that you will either. Sounds like you have put together one great group for your breeding projects, and like myself... I know that everyone else here will be looking forward to seeing some of them.

So, to post photos... the easiest way to do this is to set yourself up with a photo gallery here. Do that by hitting the small "Photo Gallery" link in the group of links at the top of this page. After that is set up, you can upload your photos to your gallery. Once you have that all set, you can select images to post from your Photo Gallery from the window at the bottom of the post page.

If by chance you store photos online in another location, you will also see a text entry area near the bottom of the page where you can enter the image URL and your post will link to it and display the photo with your post.

Photos of a very nice '04 milksnake phase male, produced by and purchased from from Mike and Chris Bodner. These guys have what I believe to be one of the absolute finest VR strain saturated orange milksnake phase males producing today, and this is one of his baby boys. I also have his sib brother, a little nicer if you can believe that... and they are both little beasts! Growing like weeds and looking incredible, these two are actually catching up with some of my '03 males. Photos compliments of the Bodners, colors are dead-on accurate...

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Here's some of my collection. The yellow, red, and black one is a male. The reduced black is a male also, and the olive green one with the orange saddles if a female. More pics to follow!

Ken, welcome! I really like that middle male! The other two are nice too, I like the thin banded male. Good luck with them next year.

Here is a male from last year that is similar to yours, I didn't get another one like him (yet) this year though. That's part of the fun, nothing is certain.

Nice bunch of snakes Ken. Did that second one come from David Weymouth @ mountainkings.com?

Very nice group indeed... you're taste in thayeri is exceptional I can see, and you are most definitely a welcome member of the club! Looking forward to takin' a peek at the other 7 members of the bunch!

Thanks Chris. You've got some really nice ones yourself. The middle one came from a guy (I can't remember his name) on [bleep], and was supposed to be a female. When it sexed male I tried to email him, but the address was already invalid. That's happened to me a few times over the last year. He was so pretty though I really didn't care. The top, and bottom ones did, however, come from Dave. The female is Vivid line, and the male is Dan Verm line. Are the ones in your pics from Dave?

Well..............yes
I bought the msp from Dave W outright. the other 2 are my 2005 hatchlings that I produced from an adult trio I bought from Dave W this spring. Thanks for the compliment. I would almost bet money that middle yellow leonis came from David W in a round about way somehow.

What do you think Mike K., John L. ???????? Anyone Else???

jlassiter Aug 29, 2005 10:16 PM

It could possibly be one from Evan Stahl's stock.....You know the same line as Big Yeller and one other yellow headed male I got from David in 2004 produced by Evan......
It is just a guess, but could possibly be true.

Ya.... you are right. I went through all of David W's pics and could'nt find that one. He sure looks an awful like like "Big Yeller".......................dawg. LOL

KenCasstevens Aug 29, 2005 10:48 PM

Since you all liked him I thought I'd post another pic.

Damn you're right. Dead ringer.

KenCasstevens Aug 29, 2005 10:19 PM

The guy I bought him from had an email address of mittree3@epix.net, or something very similar to that. Ring any bells? Anybody else deal with someone like that?

Welcome Ken,
Glad to finally see you post....Michelle talks about you all the time......LOL
Great, great thayeri man. I like the reduced black one and the yellow one......AND....that olive one looks very similar to my old breeder female that did well for me this year.

KenCasstevens Aug 29, 2005 09:47 PM

Thanks John, Rick, and Mike also for welcoming me to the board. I'm extremely glad to finally be posting on here. You all have some extordinary Thayeri! I could look at all the pics posted on this forum all night. John, I have Michelle to thank for this addiction. She showed me the light. lol. Here's a pair of buckskins I recently got in. Hope you all like them as much as I do. Can't wait for the babies next year.

It is cool how both of them have nice red saddles near the neck/head and how they lose the red towards the tail/vent.
Neat Thayeri....I wish you luck with your pairings next year Ken.
