Depends what kind of tank or cage you have. If you need to add heat get a mercury vapor...they gey hot! They are also good if you need the UV to travel farther. If you have a normal cage a repti-sun 5.0 is great...UV travels about 12'' from the bulb...it is good for normal sized tanks..very little heat. The mercury vapor bulbs are 100w, and they have a reflector, they make way too much heat for most tanks...

Supplements are easier.... Rep-Cal, Phosphorus-Free, Calcium with Vit. D3 (the Ultrafine powder sticks to the crickets best, pick label). Thats the best calcium you can get. No additives cept d3 which help to back up the UVB light. Then gey the herptivite? same company... give that every 14 days...not much more often then that. Vitamins can be deadly in large doses.

We also use Rep-Cal, Phosphorus-Free, Calcium with VitD3.

As for the lights, we use the mercury vapor. We do not have a heating problem with any size tank we use as you can adjust the light up or down to the proper heat, still getting the UVB. If its a really big tank like we keep our girls in, we add another heat source also.

It may just be our house, but we have better luck with lasting time with the Active UVheat ones than the PowerSuns. You have to be cautious not to touch them with your hands (oils on hands can created problems for the lights) and power surges.
