What do you feed butterworms?. And is it ok to dust them with Vitamin, not calcium, as iam aware they are high in calcium.

Hi safo - butterworms only dine on a plant native to Chile. You can leave them in the substrate they came in (usually sawdust)and put them in the fridge with a ventilated top. They do not need to be fed in this state and will slow metabolizing and can be kept this way for many months. Eventually, they will decrease in size but only over time. Feed off the smallest first so that fattest last longer. They are serious burrowers so do not let them get loose (small chance, really) but they will burrow into dense packs of sawdust so remember to look inside and pull the clumped sawdust apart as there will be many hiding inside.

Yes, you can dust with vit. dust, but keep in mind that this will likely clog their spiracles (little openings along the side of the larvae) which is how they breath. If your cham does not eat it and you put it back in container it may die. So just dust as many as you know your cham will eat.
