What should I make for my next selection?

Pspguy Jul 17, 2003 11:00 PM

Okay, I have my 2 females right now, a high yellow, and abberant. I am hopefully getting a Tangerine/Carrot from TundraGeckos.... so I am wondering, where should I head for my last female and my 1 male? I'm thinking a blizzard for one... I'd like a good mix of different colors and variations for when I do decide to breed... I only plan on each female laying once a year... so any suggestions?

how can you plan on each female only laying once a year? once a female starts laying, she usually lays a few clutches. if you plan on breeding, you should get a matching pair, like if you want a blizzard, get two.

Well, I am still learning the entire process and my leos are very young yet anyway. However, the male will be in his own place... I only plan on having the 5 at this point, my male and 4 females.

If you plan on breeding, and you haven't decided exactly which phase(s) you want to work with, then be prepared to take care of a lot of geckos. You will end up with a lot of hets and a lot of average looking geckos. That's fine if that's what you want, but the market for them is about dead and it will be hard to find homes for them if you aren't prepared to keep them for yourself. If you are just starting out, pick a male and a female or two of one phase like iluvblackfrancis said, and give it a go. Start small and see how it goes before you invest a lot of money in several different phases.

Yeah.....you will just end up getting hets or double hets or something like that. Breeding a blizz to a carrottail will not make a carrottail blizz. And I hope you are quarantining all of these animals if you are planning on putting them in the same tank.
