What will my kids end up with breeding a sunglow motley to a ghost motley?

RyanT Aug 29, 2005 11:54 AM

This is a little project for my kids and I don't know much about cornsnake genetics, so I'm curious. They don't even care about the genetics. My son likes his Sunglow and my daughter wants a Ghost. I'm just wondering what offspring they would end up with from the 2. I'm thinking they'll be like triple het (hypo het for albino and anery) motleys or something? Am I right or way off? Thanks alot. Ryan.

That pairing will statisically result in:

50% normal motlies het for amel and anery

50% amel motlies (which, may or may not tend toward the sunglow end of the spectrum), het for anery

UNLESS...

Your sunglow motley is het for anery too (it is one of the most common gene floating about int he cornsnake world "mix", in which case you could expect something like:

25% Normal motlies het amel, and anery
25% Amel motlies het anery
25% Anery motlies het amel
25% Snow motlies

Have fun with them!
