Substrate ?

BeArDyCrAzY Jul 17, 2003 11:11 PM

I've kept my beardy on paper towels since i've had her and i'm gettin fed up with changing the paper towels when she only poops on lyke a corner of the paper towel. I want to use some form of loose substrate so i can spot clean easier. What should i use? Sand? if so wut kind? I've also heard of people using wheat bran or something, is that any good? or could i use those rabbit pellets(food) as a substrate? Thnx to all who reply!

I use bran - and I think it works great. It is cheap, it is not dangerous if they eat some of it by mistake and it kind of looks like sand.

I have also tried rabbit pellets – but I didn’t like it. It was kind of “noisy” when my dragons moved around and it looked “wrong”. Bran has a much nicer look – I think.

Below is a picture of my female Teo (barely awake!) in bran.

haha!
I had to laugh about the rabbit pellets being rather noisy every time they moved! I had that same problem ..
and then switched over to bran, which is sooo cheap, and works great!

Hm... I am sorry but I can't help you there - I live in Sweden and buy my bran at a place where they sell "stuff for farmanimals". The bran is in a big bag - you have to ask someone from USA to help you with this.
