I'm not sure what the reason was for not eating on her own. She was with a couple that were doing the same, so I think they were just that percentage of Leo babies in a clutch that don't make it. She and her sisters were being forcefed and when I saw her the first time she was very very lethargic and just didn't look like she felt well at all, her eyes were kinda closed as if her time was coming. About two weeks of forcefeeding and I called to find out her condition (they had put her on hold just in case) and the guy said she was eating very well on her own, gaining back weight. When I went to check her out and pick her up, she was much more active, moving about (mind you we were bothering her a little
and not lethargic or wincy eyed anymore. Her eyes were open (not wide eyed, but open) and she moved about like she was a happy little thing. She gained a lot of weight back, I could tell from the start. She is still active right now and I think, though I'm not positive, that she ate one of the mealies. I can't seem to find the 5th one, so I think she ate it (and it was the biggest one). So if she starts to act a bit ill I'll take her in.
I also noticed that because it gets a bit hot here, that my oldest Melly is sleeping in her water bowl (taking her own little cold baths
. Is this normal? I was just curious...I personally am not concerned, just want to know if anyone else may have had theirs do this. The new one is also hanging out by her water dish, and I have seen her drink from it, which is good. She really really likes her humidity hide (that helps her get moisture right?). I still have to make one for Melly, which I will do ASAP.
