I just discovered little gnats around the soil of my cham's umbrella plant. Anyway to get rid of these pests? Is it because the holes in the screen are too big and allows them to get in?

these are fungus gnats and live in the soil. They are a sign that the soil is too wet as they feed on decaying matter. Either repot or replace with another plant while you let this one dry out a bit. Make sure the pot has drainage holes so the water does not sit and saturate the plant. In most plants you can allow the the top 1" of the soil dry out completely between waterings.

I think my Habamist is watering the plant too much (I am planning to switch to a humidifier after reading the Habamist postings awhile ago). Would that help?

It will proabaly help, but once the soil is saturated it will take no water at all for a while in order to dry out enough. Did the problem begin when you began using your HabbaMist? There are few plants that will survive that much water for any length of time and the larvae of the gnats will slowly kill the roots of the plants, too. I would take it out and get it into drier soil. When I had Luna, I always kept a "back up" plant in case I needed to take one out. If you repot it just make sure that it has good drainage.

I've had the Habamist for awhile but it seems a lot of the water is now going into the pot because I don't have to clean out the drainage saucer anymore.
I think I'll repot the plant and get another one anyway.
It's an Umbrella Plant. It seems to be thriving though.
Thanks again for all your advice.
