Well I have, I got a couple of adult females from a friend about 4 years ago, they both produced clutches of eggs for me the first year I had them. Before they came to me, he had them for at least 5 or 6 years and they had produced eggs for him too. I don't know where he got them from but they have been in captivity for quite a long time. I think that quite a few people who've been producing young consistantly for a number of years have produced from wild caught females. It's not impossible, but it can take years to get them acclimated.

if your friend had them for 5-6 years and they produced, most breeders would consider these to be LTC. Just curious, during the 5-6 years that your friend had them, how long before they produced? How many years did he try to breed them and miss?

Due to the seemingly large number of people who consider anything over 6 months to be LTC. The females that I have originally started as wild caught just like the majority of ball pythons in captivity today. My friend bred them twice that I know of before giving them to me and hadn't really attempted to breed them very often because he only had a normal male and normal females. It's really not all that long ago that captive breeding of any ball python was a rare occurance due to low cost and easy availability of imports. I do have some other WC females that I've had for a few years that still have not bred for me and still don't feed that well either. I also have a guaranteed CBB female that is 5 years old that also doesn't eat well and has never bred for me. In my experience, if they feed well, they'll breed well no matter what their origin.

The quickest bred the first breeding season (less than one year in captivity). That has been the exception for me, however. Most have taken 18-30 months, and many do not.

I have bred a couple... I think in the best case it takes a good two years for females to acclimate and breed. Males on the other hand can come in breeding in the shipping box.

My experience is limited to a few females though so this is nothing but a theory of mines at this point.
