I have not seen them but I would expect them to be typical Freedom Breeder. Good quality, well made, long term purchase, and out of my price range. I have seen their racks many times, just too expensive for me.

Thanks for the input! I always thought they were out of my price range too, but now I'm not so sure. I think these are the most affordable option. The complete systems (30 boxes) cost around $3000, but I only have to buy one level at a time (as opposed to standard closed rack systems). If I find a good deal on an extra animal, I'd only have to shell out for one additional level instead of buying a whole new rack just for one animal. I really think it fits a tight budget better...IMHO, that is.

And I'd love to hear plenty of other opinions on these racks!

I saw them in Daytona.

It looked like FB was trying to imitate vision's ball rack by installing a plastic panel top.

The top used a really thin plastic sheet that looked kinda chincy.

$1100 looked pretty steep in price. With the shipping it would cost about $1400.

I guess it is a good thing that balls are selling for high prices these days.

I just spoke with Jesse @ Freedom Breeder and it looks more affordable than I originally thought. The base, casters (which are pretty expensive), and a level costs around $180 shipped ($140 without casters). After that it's only around $100 shipped per individual level. And I can buy those individual levels as needed instead of a whole new rack. That sounds good to me...and to my sporadic budget!

On their web site they describe the 28"x33" as having a "removable lid" making maintenance easier. How does that make it easier? It seems like it adds one more step to cleaning. Am I missing something?

Bob.

I think you have to subtract $100 to make things a bit more even. The Freedom Breeder rack comes with thermostat.

The $1000 price tag (not including thermometer) is a little more expensive...but I am glad to swing the extra cash.

I can't wait to see it in action (just sitting there in my room)...

My understanding is that the Vision version is only $90.00 to ship. (?)

junglehabitats Aug 30, 2005 10:04 PM

The vision unit is ALUMINUM!!! and the FB is STEEL so the weight duifference i am assuming is the difference in cost & weight . Trust me shipping is NOT CHEAP NOW!!!! i have been hit with over the last yr with 10% ship[ping charges and there going up again now due to that %#%@#$!#! Katrina!!!!

Aluminum racks by vision i "assume are shipped in unassembly sections since it uses the "connectors" where FB is shiped in "sections" that are larger due to the steel construction .

I hate to be the bearer of bad news ...... but EVERYTHING that is shipped to your door is aboutto go up ALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT if things go on the same path they are heading in now !!! the 10% i have been hot with was over the last 10 months ... that doesnt INCLUDE the duration of this storm . I spoke with my suppiler today and they ASSURED ME there would be a price increase by weeks end on all raw materials . Expect all shiping across the board to go up in a drastuc price .

While i cant positively assure the reasons for others prices in shipping ETC. I will say i have been looking into alternitive ways to get thr product to the cutomer and until teletransportation becomes available lol were all going to have to suck it up and pay the piper when it comes to shipping . I personally have seen shipping go up $8.00 on average per shipment in the last 6 months , this is WITHOUT the the last increases ans comming ones for shipping . What many dont realize is that shippers lock into a "contract" for there gas prices . HOWEVER the seller can reserve the right to increase prices on the contract when that happens guess who pays it ? yep the end user . i have sucked up so much in shipping & supplier costs over the course of the last 10 months its CRAZYYYYYY. As the consumer i have to admit we dont see the justificatrion in these costs . But the reaility is that even thatsnickers that was .75 today may verywell be $1.25 next week !!

Prices for gas have jumped up so quickly here before even "feeling " the lack from the recent disaster. I hate to sound negative but....

The AP CB70 10 hole rack is awsome! I love mine, it was around $850 - $900 after shipping and tubs.
