He is just a couple inches under 5' but with a big ol' noggin though. He is near or over 20 years old but still producing for me.

Thanks,

Keith

Nice looking animals Keith! Seems like you know your camera better than you know yourself, LOL! Awesome pics, man! How's your future GA giant doing?

Those are some incredible looking snakes. That is my next snake! Could you email me and tell me what kind of habitat they are found in? I live in St. Mary's County, MD. Is that the name of your business? That is a cool name. Thanks, Derek

Keith Hillson Aug 30, 2005 10:32 PM

Derek

As far as habitat St. Mary's county is where you can find Eastern Kings. I think I have a pic of one ir two on my site. From what I know Kings are usually found near water but to be honest Ive never seen one in the wild.

Keith, Great shots! If it's ok to ask questions here on this forum, how do you get your kings to pose so nicely? I can't get mine to sit still for more than a second.

Keith Hillson Aug 30, 2005 10:25 PM

On the long range or full body shots I bring their hide boxes out and let them nestle in. I think its important to use their own as the smell of another King makes them jumpy. For the macro or close ups I hold the snake with one hand and shot with the other lol Some snakes are too wiggly to do that but most mine tolerate it well enough. Thanks for the compliments.

Good idea on the hide boxes. I've tried that with one box used for several snakes but it always seems as soon as I lift the box, the snake wants to go. Why can't they just be more like Cottonmouth? Those things are the best subjects for photographing...most of the time.

Sweet! Keith, what camera do you use? I may be going for an up grade before long. Thanks, Phil

Keith Hillson Aug 30, 2005 10:22 PM

Phil I use a Nikon Coolpix 4300. I like the camera but the delay between shots really sucks especially with a moving subject lol. The Canon Rebel has very little delay but its about 900 bucks as well. Thanks for the compliments.

Still like SE Virginia's wide banded easterns over those thin banded slugs any day. LOL

As always great pics!

Keith Hillson Aug 30, 2005 10:20 PM

I love the SE VA's and hopefully I will have a pair of babies in the next few weeks. As far as Easterns go I like extremes either really thin banded or really wide banded. Thanks for the compliments Tony.
