MORE EGG QUESTIONS

darthjadden Aug 30, 2005 10:18 PM

ok so i have the eggs incubating at 85 degrees and about the same humidity and all but two of them look ok. i had two of them sink in and the shells are kinda rubbery as apposed to the others which have hardened. so i carefully picked them up and shined a light through the egg and you can see yoke in them so should i still let them incubate or through them out?

thanks jason

Jason I asked around because remember I am not a breeder so I don't deal with eggs.. .but I was told that if the eggs look like they're denting in then you need to raise the humidity a bit because the substrate is probably a little too dry.
If I were in your shoes I wouldn't throw any of the eggs out just yet. I'd get that humidity up, see what happens & then watch for mold. If they get moldy later on then I'd throw them out.
Let us know how it's going!

ok will do the humidity is now about 90% and i did notice the substrate was a little dry so i hope i got it fixed. now i was thinking about keeping a small dish off water in the bottom of the incubator to help keep the humidity up or should i just keep misting the subtrate to keep it most?

Thanks a ton for the help

A small dish of water or keep misting. hmmm what to do what to do..
I think try the dish & see if it helps but I also think it depends on where you live..what your climate is like.
Where I am in this desert it would take both, a dish & misting to keep it humid enough.
I have a pacman frog living on moss & I have to pull the moss out & soak it, not mist it every other day or else it's as dry as a bone & that's WITH a water dish inside the tank with him. Of course his UTH has something to do with that, I have to keep him warm enough too.
He likes humidity at around 75% I have to keep an eye on that because in no time at all it'll drop down to 40% if I don't keep wetting down that moss.
So what I'm saying is you just have to adjust it to your particular climate.
