Please give suggestions, and tell me if Im doing anything wrong
I just got an 8 week old 3rd generation cb male frilled (Petri, about 3"-4" tip to tip) from the last midwest reptile show in Indianapolis (8/27/05 the breeders only show), which I instantly fell deeply in love with at first sight. After talking to the breeder about the care and personality of the lizard, I couldnt resist but take one of these babies home with me. I pretty much had the cage ready to be set up for whatever I decided to put in it, so Petri now lives in a 55 gal. with sphagnum peat moss soil as substrate, one large water dish out of the basking areas and another smaller one in the heat, a huge branching piece of driftwood in the hottest basking area which i bought at the reptile show and a smaller piece in the other basking area, i put a large artificial plant draping over the middle of the larger piece of wood and added a few pieces of lace rock scattered around the cage for him to climb at his leisure. The lighting consists of a 100W basking bulb on one end of the cage, a 150W basking bulb on the other side, and a 24" 8% UVB inbetween the two (all of witch are cased in a cool little piece of furnature that i built). The hotter basking spot stays at about 97-99 F and the lower at 89-91 F, with a cool zone of about 83 in the middle. the humidity is usually between 55%-65%. He has eaten about 8 crickets a day, which i dust with reptivite, since he came home. he drinks very well, and soaks now and then. I only handle him about 45 minutes to an hour a day right now, I felt like it might stress him out. But he seems very acclimated to his new enclosure, and seems to like it very well (though he spends most of his time near the top of the wood in the hotter basking spot. I love this thing to death and want to give it the best care possible, please give me any suggestions. Thank you so much all who reply
P.S. I will be adding pics of Petri and his enclosure very soon, i know its hard to get a good image from these plain black and white letters.
