What do you think about this......

VFR Aug 30, 2005 11:50 PM

I was looking through Peter Kahls website and found the boa pictured below. Now check this out, this boa is the product of a coral albino and a jungle het. albino. When I took a closer look I noticed this boa has a very similar look to my "real" jungle also purchased from Peter. I called Peter to talk about this boa and he told me that this boa is starting to look more like a jungle and that he was debating on whether to put him as a possible jungle het. for coral albino and raise the price a few k. Well, I did not let him get too far on the thought and told him I would purchase the boa. That boa is currently on its way to my house and should be here this (Wednesday) morning. What do you guys think? Does this boa say “jungle” to you? Some coral albino jungles would be so sweet, wouldn’t it?

seen Jungles in photographs. So to me it doesn't really scream Jungle but that is really not saying much. Is that a current pic? It is obvious that alot of Boas grow into their colors. I have a normal pictured below that was a drab looking Boa pictured on Gray Rushin's site and he is unreal looking now. Same goes for the Harlequin line. I would imagine some of the lesser expressives will "color" up.

Remember this is all coming from an amatuer and someone who has only seen pics of Jungles....

Either way though, I betcha it's gonna make some killer Albinos!!!!

Lets put it this way, Alot of people say that you can definitely tell a jungle apart from a normal yet we see possible jungles for sale. I have a 100% jungle from Peter Kahl, you can still see it on Peters site, it's the one he has there for 3k; I attached another picture of it. I can honestly say that I have seen regular boas with similar color to my jungle. Also, if you pay attention to the 2 jungles on Peter Kahls site you will find that the color is different on both jungles, not the same.

I will snap some new pictures of it when it arrives in the morning and post them. For now here is the picture of my "real deal" jungle.

thanks,

Heya VFR,

I actually have the other jungle, which is still listed at Pete's site for $2500.

In my experience Peter's pictures do his boas absolutely no justice. It is very possible that the het you bought looks much more jungle than it does in the picture. Pete doesnt call just anything a possible jungle. The possible jungles he did sell (ive seen many third party pictures) look very close. So I imagine if he was thinking about listing yours as such, it probably does as well. Either way, being from a coral bloodline it will throw amazing albinos.

Regarding the jungle look: You are right. Although there are multiple keys to signify jungle or not, which generally allow for enough room to call it. The aspect that gets most peoples attention is obviously the saddle/tail aberrancies... they just jump right out at yeah. Secondly, there is the sudden coloration change in dorsal/lateral color. Third, extra black washout. Forth, extra white bordering tail splotches. Etc. From what I have viewed there seems to be jungles with any combination of these traits. Sometimes just pattern aberrancies and little or none of the other traits. Sometimes just color.. sometimes just washout.. etc. But there is a good chance that there will be borderline ones that do not express any of the traits significantly enough to call it a sure jungle.

To elaborate the point that Pete's pictures do no justice, compare his to mine:

See Pete's picture at this link: http://www.pkreptiles.com/available/view.asp?id=jb 04 M 019

Here is the same boa (Which ironicly I was hassled about in which someone claimed it was only a possible jungle, lots of confusion and mis-information out there):

----- Outside in the sunlight ------

----- Inside with Flash ----- (he had just eaten a weaned rat the day before)

So, as you can see, mine falls into that catagory of not expressing much pattern aberrancy. But because he has such a high expression of dorsal/lateral color change, white tail bordering, and wash out, he is an easily identified jungle.

My camera skills need to get better. That boa looks great. I'm sitting here waiting for my boa to arrive when he gets here I will post some pictures of it.

My best picture advice is take pictures in the sun around 3-5 o clock in the daytime. Make sure the sun is behind your back illuminating the boa, obviously you dont want your shadow on the boa. And press the little flower button for macro if your camera has it.

Take Care and good luck!

That boa is clearly a jungle! I really like how your photos actually represent the colors!! Money well spent!

with this ebv red group this season

If not I have plenty of backup males regardless .

Very logical to bring more color out with the EBV Red Group. I have similar plans for my young Jungle, but it wont' be until 2006 breeding season.

First up will be this female poss super salmon.

After that it will be my red pastel. I guess we think alike, as I bought her for mainly the same purpose.
