update on resp infection......a few questions....

joshhutto Aug 31, 2005 01:22 AM

well for those of you that remember 2 days before daytone I noticed my het pied female had a resp infection. Well her baytril is over and she's shown a little of improvement. No mucus comes from her nostrils when presure is put on her bottom jaw and she does breath now without the popping or hissing sound at times. I'm keeping her temps up to 91 cool side and 96 hot side and misting her cage every 3 days. From what i've been told those temps should finish up the healing process. The only question i have is, about how long should it take? I have been told in another week or 2 to as long as several months. She does still have moderate amounts of mucus in her mouth when opened but not as much as when i discovered the RI. Also should i try to feed her or let her use all her energy on healing, she does have great weight on her. She still does rest with her head slightly elevated but is alot more active than she was a week ago. If there is anything else I need to do or that i'm doing wrong let me know. Also how long before I should take back to vet as long as she doesn't get any worse?
thanks tons, Josh Hutto

I know this board is about snakes but I see you have a pitbull. I have a few. They all grew up together. When they got older the started fighting each other because of being jealous than the other was geting petted or sometimes one would attck the other out of nowhere. My dogs are babies. I never trained them to fight or attack. They are so spoiled sometimes they ignore me becuase they feel like they don't have to listen to me. I have to keep them seperate becuase now they will kill each other if they see one another. When I move them from room to room the run around the table and don't listen beaucse they like to be in they living room.
Anyway oneday my dog tippy was sleeping on the couch. This girl was living with me and was on the couch also. Tippy came out of his sleep and bit her on the face. he never barked or anything. He isn't a mean dog. He just went out of character. The girl didn't touch him or provoke him in anyway.
I bet that couple who got 10 years in prison after the two cane corsos attacked and killed a woman didn't think their dogs would.
I am only telling you this because my dogs are no more illtemered than the average lab. I just put them away when people bring their kids around. They may not hurt the kids but it is better to be to be safe then have a kid with a ripped up face.
I believethey they do have a bad rap from people training them to fight also.
