Either Provent a mite or I use sergeants skip flea and tick shampoo with oatmeal for dogs. They both have the same active ingredient - .5% permethrin. The shampoo is alot cheaper and goes alot farther. I have used the shampoo with no ill effects on yearling snakes. I have never used it on any other herps though. Just lather them up, let them set for a few minutes, and rinse them off. If there are any mites attached, the shampoo will kill them and they will come off with the next shed if you cant get them all off. Keep the snakes on newspaper or paper towels, you will notice a few dead mites within the first few days, as the movement of the snake in the enclosure dislodges the mites.
Keep them clean and reapply within 7 - 10 days to get any mites that may have hatched out from eggs.
Hope this helps.
