Big lump......Help Please

BOASELECTER Aug 31, 2005 02:43 AM

I have just got a new female that has 2 lumps on her back near her tail - they are not in the actual body - more like just under the skin... Its the size of a small coin (5 pence for UK people - 10 cents I think US)

They are filled with fluid and feel like they could burst any time!!!!

I thaught it was because she was a little overwieght but a little worried incase its something else.

She has no mites but I have treated her anyway - should it be lanced of left or checked out????

Cheers

Sam

You can go two ways with this one. Newly under your care right?
Begin by watching your snake for a few days. Is it bright, alert and responsive? Is it eating? Are the lumps increasing in size? If everything is normal except for the lumps, then there is no emergency. At your earliest convenience take your snake to the vet for a proper evaluation. He/she may suggest leaving them or removing them.

If your snake is otherwise showing signs of illness or lameness, than see your veterinarian as soon as possible.

Good luck with your new snake

Yeah she is fine apart from the fluid build up - they havent increased and she is a strong snake.

My initial instinct was that it was OK - as I say it just looks like a bit of fluid and hopefully the vet will be able to lance it and that will be the end of it - always best to check with you guys first though.
