Jason and I decided to do some road crusing in the rain last night.
We stayed in Hamilton cty...found some places where American toads, green frogs and gray tree frogs were very active....
Saw a road kill, that I almost didn't stop for...I thought it was a green frog, but Jason thought it might be a salamander so we stopped to check it out.
Turns out we were both wrong and it was a northern leopard frog!
This may not seem like a big deal considering that in other parts of Ohio they are very common.
It's a big deal in Hamilton county though!
They were common 100 years ago here, but are all but gone now.
I believe the last record was from 1992.
This could be significant indeed!
(sorry for the grizzly photo)

Here's one of the gray tree frogs that was calling...apparently confused and thinking it was spring.
