New, less blurry pics of Yellow Male w/bonus non-Thayeri pic

rick millspaugh Aug 31, 2005 10:18 AM

I posted a couple very blurry pics of this guy a while back, he was almost chartreuse. He has gotten a little more orange now but still has a chartreuse look to him. He and a couple sibs have that same head pattern; it is very cool looking (in my opinion).

The first pic is a Nelson's Milk, just wanted to share. Last year's sister was totally patternless. Hope you don’t mind me sharing a non Mexicana. Milk snake forum should be re-named “Big squirrelly Hondo Forum”.

You produce some killer snakes, Rick. I remain a huge fan of yours!

How's the feeding coming?

rick millspaugh Aug 31, 2005 12:11 PM

Thanks Mike, I was going to keep this guy until the spotted one hatched out, he is a real garbage pail eater too. I don't have room for all of them (Hognose pair is out a here to make room).

I still have five non-feeders (not counting the last bunch to hatch). The worst two have gone about five weeks, the other three are only about three weeks. One is #15 though. So far I have tried live, F/T, F/T brained, F/T whacked in half (did not work for any!), F/T washed and scented (lizard was not too thrilled about getting rub all over dead mice). All will eat eventually, I only had to brumate two non-feeders last year and they ate like pigs after that. Next is mouse-tails dipped in Nutri-bac, sometimes gets things working.

Beautiful yellow male Rick, and awesome hondo as well!

Thanks Ken, looking forward to seeing some pics of your babies! The Milk is a Nelson's, I'm not a big Hondo fan, although I have a pair.

Sorry, Im meant to say Nelson. Absolutely beautiful. Do you have any pics of the all patternless sibling you were talking about? (Sorry-I know this is a mex forum, but I would love to see it.

I have a couple pics in the photo gallery. Once I get these feeding I'll try to get some pics for the Hondo - I mean Milksnake forum. I gave up trying to get pics, they just wouldn't hold still (still not as bad as a Honduran or Pueblan).

...and I remember that amazing female from last year, she was nothing less than magnificent. Totally patternless ripper she was! Those things are awesome Rick, and I know they are the real deal. As far as I'm concerned, you can share all your cool stuff here anytime and you won't get a complaint from me.

Thayeri is definitely worth special mention... on first glance the head pattern along with head shape is what caught my eye. Nice broad head shape and that heart shaped cetner pattern definitely sets it all off along with the clean yellow head color. First rate no doubt!

Man you had a great year.

John and all others, thanks!
I have posted pics of the parents in the past as well as where I got them, I thought I was the old one who couldn't remember stuff - lol. Anyway, they are from Dr. Mark Wolfenson, his stuff is mostly Vivid with a few others thrown in for a good mix; including Dan V and mountain Kings (I am terible with names). My buddy has a bunch too so I have a ready source for some outcrossing. He had a terrible year though, two female Thayeri's laid in the water container (empty the water befor they are suppose to lay) and the third only gave him three good eggs with a second clutch in the oven.

Here are some pics of my breeders, the leonis female (thin reduced black bands) is a real knock out in person. The male has gotten a little gray in his old age, just came in this year. The MSP female has kept her bright color pretty well.
