Can you feed Bearded Dragons mealworms or superworms instead of crickets? np

they should only be fed as a treat occasionaly as they are low in meat and high in chittin...the chittin can cause blockages...some people, like me, don't feed those at all...

Mealworms have a very high chitin content. Their exoskeleton is hard and nutritionally, they are lacking. I use superworms for my adult occassionally. I have a small colony of them, and sometimes feed the freshly shed smaller ones to my juvis for a treat. Silkworms and appropriately sized crickets are much better to feed them as a staple.

There are lots of people that feed leopard geckos mealworms as the staple diet without any problems, is there a reason its different for bearded dragons?
