female ball laying on her side

SFC Aug 31, 2005 03:23 PM

Is this normal for non-gravid females?? I honestly couldnt tell you if she is or not. Back at the beginning of May, we had to house our 2 females and 1 male together cause we were in the process of moving to another state and it was easier to transport 1 big container then 3. They were together for almost 2 months. We moved them into their own living quarters about mid to late June. Now, I never did see her and our male locked up but of course that doesnt mean they never did while together. She's been eating normal and she is going into shed. I really need some advice on this one so I know whether or not I need to get my incubator ready.

Thanks
SFC

was she in shed while laying on her side? cause all of mine have done this males included when they are shedding. If she did this other times it may or may not be a sign, considering you had a male in there you still might want to get the incubator ready to roll about 26ish(so it will be up to temp) days after the shed just in case.

yeah she is in shed. When I seen her laying on her side this morning I seen that her belly was pink. I will get the incubator ready tho, just in case. Thanks

Could be that she was just hot and was cooling herself off.

It is quite common for females in particular to lie like that. I have my 2 and 1 year old females doing the same thing. I wouldn't worry about it. If she is eating and acting normally, leave her to it. In the unlikely event that she IS gravid and does lay, let her incubate the eggs for a day or two until you get your incubator sorted.
