Some photos of a Western Green Ratsnake...

ratsnakehaven Aug 31, 2005 06:04 PM

We were in se. Arizona in late July for vacation, as we have been doing for about ten yrs. now. I had yet to see a green ratsnake in the Santa Rita Mtns. The evening of our arrival day I went up into the mtns. and this was the first snake that I saw, stretched out on a dirt road...

Although I don't think they make very good pets, I do think they are beautiful snakes and very interesting. Someday, when I move to AZ, I'm going to study these snakes in the wild, and maybe I'll make an attempt to keep one in captivity again.

Good luck herping this coming Labor Day Weekend, if you're into that.

Thanks. It was a highlight of the trip. Weird, that it happened the first night.

Hey Ter,
So you finally got one! You know, that would've been mine had I been out there this year, LOL! Seriously, you've certainly earned the right to see a few of those over the years. Best wishes on a few more.
Best..
Jim

Thanks, bud.

We missed ya' this year. You're right, if I hadn't been alone, with noone else on the road, I probably wouldn't have been where I was and wouldn't have seen the snake.

It was sure a rush getting my first on the home range, so to speak. See ya next summer, I'm sure.
