Came home today to 19 bouncing little baby suris, one stillborn and 6 slugs. This was a very rewarding litter for me and here is why. Back in 2003, their mother was bred for the first time at 5 years old and about 7 feet. She had complications during delivery and ended up retaining several babies, some that came out within days of initial delivery and then 3 that had to be surgically removed. She had to be cut in two different sections to get the babies out. Needless to say I was very concerned if she'd ever reproduce again and secondly if she did become gravid would she have complications again. Big THANK YOU to Dr. Thomassy here who did the surgery back in 03 on her. This PIC has 15 of the 19 babies. The other four were still sitting with their heads poked out so I figured I'd leave them alone til they started crawling around.
I'm pumped and I've got a peruvian due that I expect to frop within the week.
