I've noticed my females will lay there eggs on the warm end, and I'm sure within good incubating temp range. Since they almost always glue their eggs to something and you cannot remove them a substate is not needed. If I had loose eggs I would put them on vermiculite or perlite. I've hatched out babies in a incubator and inside the parents viv both of which maintain at least 50% humididty(higher in incubator). Good luck if you decide to breed. One of my females has been laying eggs since december, she took a break while my other was gravid but it appears she is gravid again also. Here a pic of my last eggs layed, guess there not going in the incubator. My Tokays eggs have been taken a minimum of 100 days to hatch

Great, thanks a lot for the info. A couple more questions if you don't mind? Do the males only call when wanting to breed? Do the females nest gaurd at all? And since Tokays are Gecko eaters by nature did you ever have a problem with the adults eating the babies??? Thanks again in advance!!!!!! Great that your willing to share your experiences.....

My male has stopped calling at all. When I first got him I think I heard him once. A few weeks ago I played a Tokay recording which always causes a stir of curiosity, and about 3 minutes after I stopped the recording my male let out his call with me sitting about 4 ft. from him. Made me jump. never have heard him call again though. Females as well as males will watch over the eggs. If you have more than one female, all will watch them. I've also had a few eggs eaten by females?? Tokays will normally watch over and protect their young, that doesn't mean another female or one of the parents wont eat him though. I havent had that happen, yet. keep them well fed.

Tokays do guard their eggs and babies. Whereas females tend to stay close to the egg laying side, males tend to hang around more outside this place and hence they normally do most of the job of guarding babies.
Babies can grow up in their parents tank till males start to call, which normally begins at the age of 6-9 months.
Females tend to use the same egg laying place all the time. My females produce about 9 clutches of two eggs between february and November.
There are tricks to remove eggs (eg glue a piece of paper coloured as the background to the egg laying side and the female will lay her eggs there and you then can remove them with the paper)-if put in an incubator at constantly 28°C babies hatch after 70-80 days. Too high humidityx kills the eggs but they can stand a dryer environment. In the tank I mist the vicinity of the eggs once a day-as I do for all the rainforest setups, but I avoid to directly mist the eggs.
Depending on the nesting side, Baby tokays hatch after 90 to almost 200 days if the eggs are just left in the tank.
In (too) small tanks, males often stop calling or just seldomly call. Most males do not call year round.
My tokays start calling in February with a maximum of 4-10 calls a night and 2-4 calls at daytime for each male in April. Frequency drops in may and is down to almost zero in August. From August till january my males do only call if I do change major parts of the setup and immediately after the female laid new eggs.

Hope that helps

Ingo
