waterloving plants

looking for a good list of plants that can grow either completely in water(like pothos) or that will enjoy waterlogged soil... seems that whatever i get that the people at home depot or lowes tell me is ok.. just rots... it is to go in a treefrog tank.. so large leaves are good.. but really.. just looking for a list of waterloving plants... thanks!

You can't just plunk any old plant in a tub of water, even if it can handle wet soil. You need plants specifically suited for 'bogs' and ponds. You also need to be sure it's in the right pot & planting media for it survive in water. Also keep in mind, not every water suited plant can handle every depth of water!

Here is a site that has several varieties of plants that thrive in shallow water. http://store.watergardenweb.com/tropshalwatp.html
There is a link at the bottom of the page on how to plant them & care for them.
And Gardenweb has a forum on water gardens... they even have a 'plant exchange' forum. http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/ponds/
Here is another good general info site

a google search on "water garden" or "aquatic plants" will yield a wealth of information.
You should also find a decent garden center. Home Depot is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to plants. Nothing against the store in general... If i need a hammer I will go there. Their employees can't neglect a hammer to death.
good luck

Here are some great suppliers for aquatic plants:

http://www.azgardens.com

http://www.aquabotanic.com

Aquatic plants generally need a LOT of light to grow properly (in an aquarium, 2-4 watts per gallon - not sure how this might translate to a viv). If you don't have very much light in your vivarium, I'd recommend hardy species such as Java fern, Java moss, any Anubias species (especially Anubias nana), Rotala indica, Lloydellia sp. (pond pennies) cryptocornes, vallisneria, and watersprite.

Doing a search on any of those species or checking out the above links should help. Good luck!
