I know he is just a plain old Colombian......

Simbo Jul 18, 2003 07:49 AM

but I love him anyway! This is my male BCI that I have raised since he was as big around as a pencil. He is now 5 years old and about 6.5 - 7 feet long. I wish I would have thought about it, I should've put something in the tub for scale, sorry.
Let me know what you think.
Take care,
Eric

I am surprised anyone even noticed my Colombian in the middle of all of these amazing (high-end) morphs being produced lately! Good luck with your new little ones and be sure to post pics when they shed.
Take care,
Eric

I still enjoy my Colombians.I think thats where alot of us got our start.I resently went to an Expo and picked up a nice 7ft female. Dave

"I think that is how alot of us got our start"
I hear ya Dave. I have had quite a few boas in the past, but I still love the regular colombians. I don't plan on ever parting with this guy, he has really been a great pet. This past season was his first attempt at breeding and he was very aggressive at it (its just too bad that the 'female' boa he was paired up with didn't take. ha ha ha). This coming season he is going to be paired up w/ a very abberant-patterned female (hopefully). Wish him luck!
Thanks for the kind words.
Take care,
Eric

Doesnt matter what it cost, where it comes from, or how common it is, as long as you like it.

Raven01 Jul 18, 2003 01:56 PM

As Dave said, they are where many of us got our start. Out of 22 snakes in my collection, 8 of them are 'plain old Colombians'. *smile* And yeah, I still look at them in the classifieds, local shows, shops, etc. etc. etc. The only reason I don't have more is because my other half reminds me that we have limited room and more Colombians don't fit into my future breeding projects. He just spoils all my fun! lol

This is a gorgeous animal who deserves being posted and admired here. A masterpiece of Mother Nature. In my eyes a thousand times nicer than any artificial boa.

Not wanting to start another argument with this lines.

Hey Hermann,
I wasn't implying that my BCI is inferior to any morph on the market (after all, morphs are just common boas with fancy paintjobs, right?!?). I just made the comment "plain old Colombian" to point out the fact that 'morphs' usually get more attention here on this forum and with all of the ghosts, albinos, etc. being posted lately, I thought it would be nice to see a 'good old Colombian'.
Anyway, thank you for the complement. I will pass it on to my boa, I'm sure he will appreciate it.
Take care,
Eric

P.S. When is your new boa book coming out in the US??

DaveM Jul 18, 2003 02:46 PM

I like that bci, nice looking animal and yes, IMO the best looking ones are Wild Type "just plain normals" even though I see nothing plain about them. Amazing animals just the way they are.
