A rediculously tame ~

Northern Snapping Turtle. I'm sure of course this is nothing new to anyone that has kept common snapping turtles for any length of time. The turtle pictured was in captivity for only
2 1/2 months before she was able to be handled like this and could be fed from your hands. Thanx, Leo

Hi Ange ~ The turtle at the time of that photo had been in captivity for about three months. I should note that when released, in one season or so, a large snapper will be back to its natural (aggressive if you will) behaviour.
I've been fortunate to work with several large Snapping turtles (male and female) from one specific remote location in Massachusetts (for instance, that photo is of me over Ten years ago) and have found this to be the case in all of the individuals kept and released.
I have some great film footage I will soon be switching over to DVD form. If you have further questions in regards to Snapping turtles, your also welcome to e-mail me directly. Thanx, Leo
