Feeding

zugzug31 Sep 01, 2005 09:42 PM

I have a small baby snow corn which I have just purchased and I was wondering how long it will take for it to eat. The pet store said it would eat a pinky every thursday. I bought some frozen ones and put a warm one in a separate container with the snake, but the snake just goes to the other side and sits instead of eating it. Do I have to go away and give it dark or am I just a little to much in a hurry for it to eat.
Thanks in advance
Don

Put it in a deli cup with the pinkie and let it go over night.
If that dosen't work, put it in a brown paper sandwich bag and let it go over night with the pinkie. The bag trick has worked for me everytime. Don't disturb it at all for the whole night.

When I got my Corn he was 4 months and 15 inches. The store was feeding him a pinkie every 5 days. I started feeding him a pinkie every 4 days. Every 7 days is not enough. My snake has grown 20 inches since the beginning of December 2004. He is almost 3 feet long at just over a year old. Maybe feeding him more often after he starts to eat will encourage him to continue with good feeding habits.

Your snake may be stress from the move to his new home. Give him a 2 or 3 days to get used to the his new environment. Dont disturb him at all during this time. Then try feeding him a pinky as previously suggested.

Well I decided to do it a little different and it worked. I let the snake out of its container before I went to bed and left the mouse in the tank with it. I woke up this morning to find that the mouse is no longer there and the snake is hiding under the bedding. Thank you very much for everyones input.
