Does anybody else candle their uro eggs? I have found that some of the eggs obviously have an occupant, but some appear to be completely clear right up until they hatch.

I run into the same problem myself. The only thing I really rely on when I candle my eggs, is a the blood spot/veins on the surface of the egg. As long as I see those, they are viable. If I don't I still wait months before whacking them open. even then, I've only been wrong a few times.
cheers

I have found this with many types of reptile eggs(especially turtles). I leave them until they explode, collapse (in the case of the more leathery eggs) or just get really moldy and funky.
I have even wiped some superficial mold off of a couple of Phant eggs and they were viable and hatched!!
Ya never know for sure so it's best to leave em till they are putrid.
