Feeding Response - OUCH!!!

ShadyLady Sep 02, 2005 10:06 AM

I'm a lurker and never post, but couldn't resist telling about getting 'eaten' by my 2 yo male eastern.

Last night I thought I'd get him out to measure him. Haven't handled him in several months - just been moving him to the other end of his cage for cleaning, etc. He ate two large mice Sunday and he has been a really easy going guy.

I reached in and touched him on his side and then bumped him on the nose with my index finger to let him know it was me. WRONG THING TO DO! He latched onto my finger and wrapped my hand up before I knew what was happening! He must have hung on to my finger for a full minute while constricting my hand, while I muttered all kinds of nasty things. Mean time I'm bleeding all over him and my hand. I thought if I just held him for a while he would settle down, but NO WAY! He bit me on my other hand while trying to unwind him. It took my son and I both to unwind him and place him back in his cage. Sheesh! I was going to get some of the other kings out, but I think I can handle that only once a day......so maybe he gets more than two mice this week?

I am definitely glad the seller and/or you are represented him honestly. It looks too much like a pure thayeri.
Did you produce it or purchase it?
And yes....It is still ALL kingsnake just a nice looking cross.
Thanks,

Hi
i brought her from a breeder in England = Pete Quinlan of unusual albinos and he is a really great guy and very honest, i also got to see the parents.
I also belive that honesty with hybrids is an absolute must.

So I take it that one is het for Amelanistism?.....
And...glad to see you found a nice, honest breeder cause that one can pass as a pure Thayeri for sure.
Do you have a mate to breed it too to produce some offspring, possibly amelanistic babies if they are het?
Cool project too....

Now that one looks to be a cross unlike the other one, but some people would still would not know.....Great looking snakes Paul.
I think you will produce some nice looking babies a few years down the road from them two.
Thanks for sharing the pics,

yes he is and when you see them in the flesh, scales i mean. They really are stunning, hes got a variable x grayband x ruvthens x corn het albino trio that are so bright that you need a black sheet of perspecs to look at them through, i will say that when i saw his colection my head nearly fell off. he has put so much thought into producing the finnest looking hybrids , the are the cream of the crop and im sure he didnt show all of his secrets to me.
i will see if he will send me some pics to show you all.
