Water bowl question?

aliaime Sep 02, 2005 11:02 AM

My BRP is about 6 months old. She is coming along very well and has a voracious appetite. I only feed her every 10 days. After feeding time, like clock work, she defacates after the 3rd day. My question is after she passes stool, she spends the whole day/afternoon soaking in her waterbowl. At night she spends her time in her (aspen mulch bedding) terra cotta pot. The daytime temps are 84 degrees but she never gravitates toward the warmer areas at all. The cooler side(where she spends most of her time) are 75 degrees. Is that normal?

First, passing stool on the third day is most likely the prior meal (13 days earlier) not that it makes any difference.

You indicated she soaks after passing stool, probably not an issue, mine love to soak in the water and no they don't have mites.

You also indicated she likes her damp mulch pot, very good!

Lastly you said she spends all her time on the cool side of the enclosure.

Are both the damp pot and water bowl on the cool side? Does she have a hide/moist place on the warm side?
And lastly, 84 degrees while might be ok for the warmest spot sounds a little too warm. May be warmer than she wants or needs.
I keep my breeders at 80 degrees constant during the daytime.

BTW, yours is not the first post I've seen with BRP, was the "P" a typo or ????
