Switching a ball from live to frozen/thawed prey

starsevol Sep 02, 2005 01:07 PM

Hi,
I keep corns and rosy boas. All eat frozen/thawed food and have from the beginning. The place I get my frozen food from is located in town, and when I ordered my food today the lady who works there told me that she has a customer with 2 ball pythons that are on live prey. Their owner wants to switch them. I own a business in town myself and the person with the balls is going to call me for advice. Any suggestions?

I think everyone has their own way - not all balls will switch and some switch quite easily.

I start by feeding live prey off of 24 Inch Hemostats - this conditions them to the hemostats. Once they get conditioned to accepting live food off the hemostats I start using pre killed food and then on to frozen thawed. Like I said some convert easily and some it takes time some go back and forth and some never convert.

Anyway hope this helps.

arrggghh, I've got the most beautiful little Albino girl that is giving me fits!! All she wants is live rat pups. I've gotten her to eat F/T a couple times, but she is so darn stubborn!

Anyways, you'll definitely need the 3 p's. Patience, Prozac, and more patience.
