help with new hatchlings still in egg...

gothpython Sep 02, 2005 02:08 PM

i have 7 babies that were due to hatch this past sunday. they never came out so a friend suggested sliting the eggs. so i slit the eggs on day 58 and it's now day 61 with none of them showing signs of coming out. they're all inside their eggs moving about but won't leave their shells. any suggestions as to what i can do or should i just leave them in there and let them come out whenever the hell they feel like it. lol

A lot of my babies went over the 60 day mark and I cut everything on day 50. They sat there for several days, fully formed and absorbing the last of their yolks. As long as they are alive and moving around, try not to worry about them too much and they will come out when they are ready.

I've bred retics many times but this was my first year breeding ball pythons and it was stressfull so, you are not alone

In most cases, they will come out when THEY are ready, not YOU. As long is you see no obvious problems, just leave them. Try not to peek in every 5 seconds either. Right now, they feel secure in the egg and constant attention might keep them there longer.

They will come out on their own . If they are moving that is a great sign . I is not uncommon for a clutch to emerge at 65 days .Leave them alone ,Nature will take it's course .
