Three chucks

donalds4 Sep 03, 2005 03:33 AM

Out herping the other day and found three chucks under a piece of tin. This is the third time i have fliped this piece of tin and the third time i have found a chuck. But this time he had two room mates. Photo taken after sunset just outside of glamis.
They were left there to make more chucks. Cheers, donald

A few years ago I was out in NV and we came accross a dump out in the middle of the desert on this two track. We were flipping these sheets of corrugated metal thinking we would find snakes and low and behold we found chucks. Under one piece we found an adult pair and a yearling. It was surprising and cool. The nice thing about the place that i find these guys is that a friend of mine owns the property/ I has been in his family for about 80 years and no one goes there except him and sometimes illegals and border patrol. Every animal that has been found there has been re-released. He is off at vet school at the moment and i go there once in a while. He has seen 3 different desert tortoises in one day, and that was the reason we were there. We found 6 separate sets of tracks. Every time we have been there we have seen tracks. I think something has to be said about the population density of animals and the abscence of people collecting.

cheers, donald
