I acquired my baby gray-banded kingsnake about 2 weeks ago and have a couple of questions.
She's about 11" long, very pretty blairs phase (I think that's what you'd call her). She appears to be very healthy. She's active and has great color.
First question: she's so much more difficult to feed than my other kings and milk snakes. I have to leave the pinkie in the box with her for awhile, then she will finally eat it. My others will attack the food right from the tongs. Is this typical?
Also, I picked her up last night and noticed she is shedding, but not all in one piece like the others. She's "flaking" a bit, almost like an iguana. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks for your help.

Congrats on your new addition. Greybands are awesome animals. They can be very fussy eaters when they are small. You always want to be sure that when you purchase a baby that it has fed previously. I wouldn't worry if it takes longer than usual at the beginning, mine did and now is a good eater.
The flaking is a sign of too low humidity. When small its good to have a hide with moist(not wet) moss. You'll find the next shed is perfect. Good luck. Dave.
